True to its history of showcasing the innovative, the inspiring, the intelligent and the incredible, the recently-concluded 87<\/span>th<\/span> edition of the Geneva International Motor Show had enough stellar debuts, great design and high-tech performance to keep auto enthusiasts thinking, shopping and dreaming until next year\u2019s expo (March 8-18, 2018!).<\/span><\/p>\n

Porsche<\/b>‘s four-car unveiling included the new 911 GTS, the Panamera Sport Turismo, 2018 Turbo S E-Hybrid and the next-generation <\/span>911 GT3.<\/b><\/p>\n

Porsche chairman Oliver Blume said, \u201cThe strategy is building great cars, cars that people desire. As we evolve in new directions, I think there is an important reminder here. The GT3 carries Porsche\u2019s DNA most obviously.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Standard on the new GT3 is a 4.0-liter six-cylinder aspirated engine (500 hp), racing chassis, high-performance brakes, and 20\u201d 911 GT3 wheels.<\/span><\/p>\n

What price beauty? \u00a0About $285,000 for the newly designed, new twin-turbocharged (zero-to-60 in 2.8 sec.) 4.0-liter V8-powered <\/span>McLaren<\/b> 720S.<\/span><\/p>\n

Horsepower for the second generation Super Series entry is 710 (720 PS, or metric horsepower, ergo the name). \u00a0Lightweighted via carbon fiber to 2,829 pounds.<\/span><\/p>\n

An electric\/autonomous package, the two-door <\/span>Trezor<\/b> concept from <\/span>Renault<\/b> is powered by the electric motor used in the Renault Formula E racer. \u00a0Trezor delivers 350 hp and 380 Nm torque, goes from 0 to 62 mph (100 km) in under four seconds, and weighs in at 1,600 kg (3,527 pounds).<\/span><\/p>\n

The Show\u2019s visitors got a look at <\/span>Cedric, the Volkswagen Group\u2019s<\/b> first concept car, and saw no steering wheel, no pedals, and no conventional cockpit controls or instruments, which lack Volkswagen says permits “a completely new sense of well-being in the vehicle–a welcome home feeling.” \u00a0Operation is voice-controlled.<\/span><\/p>\n

Johann Jungwirth, Volkswagen’s chief digital officer, says he believes the company will be a leading mobility provider by 2025 and will “in part become a software and services company” in the process.<\/span><\/p>\n

VW plans to develop fully autonomous vehicles to offer greater comfort and convenience than current cars, while dramatically reducing the number of road deaths and \u201ctruly democratizing mobility.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Only five of the <\/span>Zerouno from Italdesign <\/b>will be made, and a $1.6 million price tag supports that exclusivity. \u00a0Customized finishes and performance packages are extra.<\/span><\/p>\n
